Frequently Asked Questions
What is Re-Entry Psychology?
I use the term re-entry to describe the psychological process of finding your way back into life after an experience has fundamentally changed you.
Sometimes that experience is OCD, where fear, doubt, and compulsions gradually shrink your world.
Other times it's surviving cancer, becoming a parent, experiencing profound grief, navigating a major life transition, or having a transformative spiritual or psychedelic experience.
Although these experiences look very different on the surface, they often leave people asking the same question:
"How do I move forward from here?"
Therapy provides a structured, evidence-based space to answer that question. Whether we're treating OCD, navigating a life transition, or integrating a transformative experience, our work is ultimately about helping you reconnect with the life you want to live.
Do you treat OCD?
Yes. OCD is one of my primary areas of clinical specialization.
I provide evidence-based treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder using Exposure and Response Prevention (EX/RP), the gold-standard behavioral treatment for OCD. Depending on your needs, treatment may also incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT).
I work with many presentations of OCD, including:
Contamination OCD
Harm OCD
Religious or scrupulosity OCD
Sexual orientation OCD
Sexual intrusive thoughts
Pedophilia OCD
Checking compulsions
Mental compulsions ("Pure O")
Perfectionism
Reassurance seeking
Symmetry and "just right" OCD
Treatment is collaborative, compassionate, and designed to help you reclaim your life from OCD—not simply reduce symptoms.
What types of concerns do you work with?
I primarily work with adults experiencing:
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Anxiety disorders
Panic
Stress and burnout
Major life transitions
Cancer survivorship
Identity and meaning concerns
Psychedelic integration
Spiritual, religious, and mystical experiences
Existential distress
Personal growth following transformative experiences
What is your therapeutic approach?
My approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and individualized.
For OCD, treatment primarily centers on Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), while integrating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT) when appropriate.
For anxiety, life transitions, cancer survivorship, and integration work, I draw from therapies that have strong scientific support, including:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
Mindfulness-based approaches
Existential and meaning-centered psychology
Positive psychology
Rather than trying to eliminate difficult thoughts and emotions, therapy focuses on changing your relationship with them so they no longer determine how you live your life.
Do you provide psychedelic-assisted therapy?
No.
I provide psychedelic integration psychotherapy, not psychedelic-assisted therapy.
Integration psychotherapy is designed to help individuals prepare for or make sense of meaningful psychedelic experiences and translate those experiences into lasting psychological growth. I do not administer psychedelic substances or facilitate psychedelic sessions.
Is telehealth effective for OCD?
Yes.
Research has shown that telehealth can be highly effective for treating OCD using Exposure and Response Prevention (EX/RP). In many cases, working virtually allows exposures to occur in the environments where OCD actually shows up—your home, workplace, or everyday routines—which can make treatment especially practical and relevant.
How do I know if therapy with you is the right fit?
Therapy may be a good fit if you:
Feel trapped in cycles of obsessive thoughts or compulsive behaviors.
Want evidence-based treatment for OCD.
Find anxiety keeping you from living the life you want.
Have gone through an experience that fundamentally changed you.
Are struggling to make sense of a psychedelic, spiritual, or mystical experience.
Feel disconnected from yourself following illness, loss, or a major life transition.
Want therapy that balances scientific evidence with compassion, curiosity, and meaning.
If you're unsure, we can discuss your goals during an initial consultation to determine whether we're a good fit.
How long does therapy usually last?
The length of therapy depends on your goals and the concerns you're bringing.
For OCD, many individuals experience meaningful improvement over several months of consistent treatment, although the exact timeline varies depending on symptom severity and treatment goals.
For integration work or major life transitions, therapy may be shorter-term or more exploratory depending on what you need.
Throughout therapy, we'll regularly review your progress and collaborate on decisions about the pace and duration of treatment.
Do you prescribe medication?
No.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist and do not prescribe medication. If medication may be beneficial, I'm happy to coordinate care with your psychiatrist, primary care physician, or other treatment providers (with your permission).
Do you accept insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider and do not participate directly with insurance plans.
Payment is due at the time of each session. Upon request, I can provide a monthly superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Coverage varies by insurance plan, so I encourage you to contact your insurer to learn about your out-of-network mental health benefits.
Where are you licensed?
I currently provide telehealth psychotherapy to individuals located in New York, with additional state licensure anticipated in the future.
Clients must be physically located in a state where I am licensed at the time of each appointment.
